In this plan, consumers will be able to purchase 5 household LED lamps at half the market price, for a total of only 525 rupees (equivalent to approximately RMB 51.2). On average, a single lamp costs only 105 rupees (equivalent to about 10.2 yuan). As far as LED lamps are concerned, such low prices are very close to the upper limit target of US$1 (equivalent to approximately RMB 6.3 yuan) set by the Indian government for LED light bulbs.
According to a statement issued by Tata Power, this plan is part of the Demand Side Management Initiative (DemandSideManagementinitiative), which is intended to promote and increase the penetration rate of household LED lamps.
The 20W LED lamp can replace the 40W traditional lamp, and according to Tata Power's announcement, users will enjoy an additional 3-year warranty.
