GigaDevice-Innovation-launches

On June 10, GigaDevice, the leader in storage and MCU, officially released GD32E512 and GD32E252, two series of optical module-specific MCU chips. The products cover the needs of all scenarios from low-speed traditional optical modules to new-generation high-speed optical modules. It further improves the company's product layout in the optical communication track and helps upgrade the AI computing power high-speed interconnection industry.

The two new MCUs are specially developed for optical module equipment, forming a complete product echelon with high and low levels. They can adapt to optical module equipment with different transmission rates and different application levels, achieving full coverage from traditional access network optical modules to data center 800G/1.6T high-speed optical modules. Previously, optical module control MCUs had long been monopolized by overseas manufacturers. GigaDevice's innovative new products have enriched domestic alternative selection options and filled the supply gap of optical communication core control chips.

This new product release directly expands GigaDevice’s product matrix in the field of optical communications. Previously, the company's MCU products have been widely deployed in the industrial and consumer electronics fields. This time, the targeted launch of a dedicated optical module series marks the company's deep entry into the computing power optical interconnect segmentation track, opening up the "storage + control chip" synergistic supporting advantages, and providing one-stop domestic chip solutions for optical module manufacturers.

From an industrial perspective, the construction of AI computing power centers continues to explode, the demand for high-speed optical modules as the core hardware for server interconnection has surged, and the construction of next-generation high-speed network infrastructure has also accelerated simultaneously. The MCU inside the optical module is responsible for the key functions of status monitoring, signal regulation, and power consumption management. GigaDevice's self-developed MCU will provide independent and controllable underlying hardware support for the high-speed optical interconnection industry chain, accelerating the localization process of computing power optical communications.

The global optical module market continues to grow, and there is broad room for domestic substitution of upstream control chips. GigaDevice Innovation relies on the mature GD32MCU R&D platform to launch special products, which are expected to be quickly introduced into the supply chain of domestic leading optical module manufacturers. At the same time, it will drive the company's MCU business growth and fully benefit from the long-term prosperity dividend of AI computing power and optical interconnection.
